Volunteer vacancies – school support tutors

A request for volunteers from Trustee and Schools Liaison Lead Evie Owen (pictured above):

Sanctuary in Chichester is working with local high schools to provide additional tutoring for children of refugees and asylum seekers. These children are hungry to learn but are inevitably on the back foot due to their circumstances. Are you please able to help? We are looking for a regular commitment during term time to work with the same children – two hours a week at most. Typically you will be working on a one-to-two basis.

We are hoping to cover a broad range of subjects (primarily Science, Maths, English and Geography) but, as you can imagine, any help will be invaluable. Ideally we are looking for teachers who are currently working part-time or are recently retired. However, we also need people willing to read with these children who won’t need to be qualified teachers.

In terms of what is in it for you – let’s just say hugely grateful children!

If you are able to offer your time, please email – contact@sanctuaryinchichester.org
