Volunteer Training Session

Mike Mansergh, Trustee and Befriending Lead, recently facilitated our latest training session for volunteers. Here he describes how it went and the team’s findings.

Thanks to all the volunteers who attended the first training session of 2024 on 12th April, that focused on our safeguarding policy, its application and how to respond to safeguarding disclosures or circumstances giving us concern. Thank you too to Mark Stables (Designated Safeguarding Lead), for imparting such useful information to us all and for fielding a wide range of questions.

The aim of the meeting was to focus on the vulnerabilities of those we are supporting and our own vulnerabilities in being involved with them. It was also an opportunity to meet, to share experiences and for the staff and trustees to gain feedback on areas where volunteers have concerns or would like greater support.

It was agreed that the staff team would take forward ideas for the development of a few key areas in our processes and in guidance documentation, to ensure volunteers are confident in their involvement with our beneficiaries.
